Department of Financial Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce,
University of Jaffna and the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL) entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) on 28th of June 2022 in the board room, Faculty of Management Studies
and Commerce. Representatives of IBSL participated in the ceremony virtually.
On behalf of the University of Jaffna, Prof. S.Srisatkunarajah, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jaffna,
signed MOU in the presence of witnesses Prof. B. Nimalathasan, Dean, Faculty of Management
Studies and Commerce and Prof. R. Yogendrarajah, Head, Department of Financial
Management. Simultaneously, On behalf of IBSL, Mr. C.P.A.Karunatilake, the Director General,
IBSL signed the MOU in the presence of witnesses Mr. G.A.J.C. Reny, Director-Administration,
IBSL and Mr. Manjula Wickramasinghe, Deputy Director/ Development and Promotion, IBSL.
The main intention of this MOU is to establish a long-term collaborative relationship in
developing and fostering academic and professional linkage of banking and finance between the
two prominent institutions.
The agreement will pave way for the Department of Financial Management by IBSL granting
awards or cash prizes to the top-performing Financial Management students in the Third and
Fourth examinations in Business Administration, providing exemptions to undergraduates and
graduates of Financial Management as per IBSL rules, assisting in obtaining practical training
and internship opportunities in banking and finance-related organizations and making
arrangements for IBSL staff and resource personnel to be involved in the curriculum revisions of
the academic programs.
