Quiz Competition – 2024: A Collaboration Between the Department of Financial Management and the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka

The Department of Financial Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, the University of Jaffna, in partnership with the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), organized a quiz competition on 29th of July 2024 with the theme of “Enhance Your Comprehension beyond the Textual Content”. This initiative aligns with the Memorandum of Understanding established between the Department of Financial Management and IBSL. The event was expertly coordinated and organized by Prof. (Mrs.) L. Kengatharan, Head of the Department of Financial Management.The event was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries, including Prof. S. Sri Satkunarajah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna; Chair Professor N. Kengatharan, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce; Mr. C. P. A. Karunatilake, Director General of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL); Mr. Manjula Wickramasinghe, Deputy Director of Development & Promotions at IBSL; Mr. Aruna Chandrasena, Assistant Director of Development and Promotions at IBSL; as well as management assistants Mr. A. P. Senavirathna and Mr. A. H. Dammika. Additionally, faculty members, including heads of departments, professors, senior lecturers, and students from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce actively participated in the event. This competition served as an excellent platform to foster unity among students from various cohorts within the faculty.Students eagerly participated in all six rounds, which encompassed a diverse range of topics, including global and local financial markets, general knowledge, the Sri Lankan economy and business, current affairs, sports, and entertainment. The competition concluded with an exhilarating rapid-fire round, showcasing the participants’ quick thinking and knowledge. Senior academic staff members, including Prof. (Mrs). R. Yogendrarajah, Dr. V.A. Subramaniam, Dr. S. Achchuthan, Mr. J. Aloy Niresh, and Mrs. T. Pratheesh, along with two dedicated members from IBSL, served as evaluators for this competition.Team – 5 (second year) emerged as the quiz competition winner, earning a cash prize of LKR 25,000. The first runner-up, Team -17, was awarded LKR 15,000, while the second runner-up, Team – 10, received LKR 10,000. All participants were issued certificates for their effort.
