Department of Financial Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Jaffna in partnership with Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), Sri Lanka hosted an exhibition with the theme of “Emerging financial minds for future investors”. This event was hosted on 12th December 2023 at the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce Auditorium. This exhibition/event is one initiative outlined in the MOU between the Department of Financial Management and the CSE.
The coordination and organization of this finance exhibition competition were skilfully executed by Prof. (Mrs.) L. Kengatharan, the Head of the Department of Financial Management. The event’s main objective is to enhance and enrich the knowledge in finance for smarter investment in the future.
Prof. S. Sri Satkunarajah, the Vice-Chancellor, Chair Professor N. Kengatharan, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Mr. Tharaka Amarasena, Manager of the Colombo Stock Exchange Academy, Mr. S. Sabananthan, Branch Manager-Jaffna at the Colombo Stock Exchange, as well as heads of departments, professors, senior lecturers, lecturers, and students from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, along with nearby school teachers and students, attended in this event.
The students who participated in the exhibition showcased their projects through diverse mediums, including 3D Models, Posters, Photographs, Video clips, Short articles, Hand-made demonstrations, Students’ drama, and other creative presentations, each lasting ten to fifteen minutes. The assessment of the exhibits among the teams was conducted by a panel of three individuals.
Team 03, focused on Credit Rating analysis, emerged as the winning team of the finance exhibition. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 along with certificates. Securing the position of the 1st runner-up was Team 08, showcasing Technical Analysis – Candlestick patterns, receiving a cash prize of Rs. 3,000 and certificates. Team 02, specializing in Tailored Investment Solutions for Middle to High-Income Individuals, secured the second runner-up position, earning a cash prize of Rs. 2,000 along with certificates.
