Quiz Competition – 2023
A quiz competition was organized by the Department of Financial Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Jaffna in collaboration with the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL) on 28th of July 2023 with the theme of ‘Extend Your Knowledge Beyond the Text’. This event was conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Financial Management, University of Jaffna and Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka. Snr. Professor. B. Nimalathasan (Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce), Mr. C. P. A. Karunatilake (Director General, IBSL), Mr. Manjula Bathiya Wickramasinghe (Deputy Director, Development & Promotions, IBSL), Mr. Menaka Wijayadasa (Deputy Director, Administration and Human Resource, IBSL), Mr. Kavindra Perera (Assistant Director, College of banking and finance, IBSL), heads of the departments, professors, senior lecturers and lecturers from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Jaffna participated and graced this event. The event brought students from each batch of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce together.
Initially, an expression of interest was called to identify interested students and then, a pre-screening process was taken place, where students attempted 30 multiple-choice questions. Based on the scores, three teams from each batch of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce resulted in 12 teams of students were selected. At the final event, they were quizzed in six rounds named global & local financial markets, general knowledge, Sri Lankan economy & business, current affairs, sports & entertainment and finally rapid fire. The winner ‘team – 10’ was awarded with LKR 15,000 cash prize and first runner up ‘team – 12’ and second runner up ‘team – 6’ were provided with LKR 10,000 and LKR 5,000 cash prizes respectively.
