Undergraduate Best Solution-Oriented Dissertation Award (UBSODA)-2023

The Business Incubation Cell of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce is
calling for applications from undergraduate students to award for the Undergraduate
Best Solution-Oriented Dissertation (UBSODA) from the graduate programs of the
Faculty. The UBSODA will be offered to undergraduate student who has completed
original and innovative and solution-oriented research that provides best solution to the
identified problems of business organization or industry or community in Sri Lanka.
The UBSODA recognizes the undergraduate student who has performed innovative
solution-oriented research and submitted it as a dissertation to the Faculty to fulfill
his/her degree program from the Bachelor of Business administration and Bachelor of
Commerce disciplines.

Application Procedure

1. The application should be sent to the BIC through the Dean of the Faculty with the
nomination form and the extended abstract of the dissertation on or before 15th of
June, 2023.
2. The applications will be screened by the Committee of the BIC with the
involvement of the one member from the University Business Linkage (UBL),
based on criterion as originality, research methodology, and best solution given to
the identified business organisation, industry or community.
3. After this screening procedure a selected number of students will be required to
submit 04 copies of their dissertations (spiral binding) to the BIC.
4. The dissertation is expected to contain around 10,000 – 15,000 words in total
excluding tables / figures, references and appendices. Written documents will be
assessed on evaluation sheet for 75 marks and 25 marks will be assigned for
interview.

Awarding

1. Best solution-oriented dissertations will receive medals and certificates.
2. The supervisors of these dissertations will be recognized via certificate awards.
3. These selected dissertations will be awarded at the final day of International

Conference on Contemporary Management (ICCM), conducted by the Faculty
annually or it will be decided by the BIC.
